Tiny Tales - Birth-23 months old
This week we are talking about Horses!  We read the books Giddy up!  Let's Ride! by Flora McDonald and The Artist who painted a Blue Horse by Eric Carle.

Trot, Trot, Trot - A bouncing rhyme
Trot, trot, trot to Boston
Trot, trot, trot to Lynn.
Trot, trot, trot back home again,
But don't fall in!

To extend our theme at home, try the traditional action rhyme:
Shoe a Little Horse
Shoe a little horse (tap lightly on
Baby’s feet)
Shoe a little mare.
But let the little colt
Go bare, bare, bare!
(As Baby gets older, teach her to
tap the feet of a favorite
stuffed animal, doll, or friend!)

Puppy Dog Tales - Age 2-Kindergarten
We are adding on to our animal fun with Chipmunks/Hamsters this week!  We adapted the story The Mouse and the Apple by Butler to the Chipmunk and the Apple!

We also added on to our Old MacDonald tune with this verse:
Old MacDonald had a Hamster, E-i-e-i-o
And in it's cage there was a wheel, E-i-e-i-o
With a run, run, here
And a run, run there,
Here a run, there a run
Everywhere a run, run
Old MacDonald had a Hamster
E-I-E-I-O!

To continue the fun at home, take a field trip to your local Pet store to go watch the hamsters!  Feel free to come up with some questions about hamsters to ask a friendly employee at the store.
