This week we are cuddling with our babies!  Cuddling makes your baby feel secure and loved!  Make sure to spend time every day cuddling with your little one.  This week we read the books Hugaboo, I Love You by Hans Wilhem and Snuggle Wuggle by Jonathon London.

Rhyme: Baby Love
Lovey dovey kissy cuddly, I bounce my baby slow,

Wonderful Ones
This week we are playing with our hands!  Body identification is an important step in early literacy for little ones.  Play games or sing songs together that help identify body parts.  A great song to start with is Heads, Shoulder Knees and Toes.  We read the books Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes by Mem Fox and Look at the Baby by Kelly Johnson.

Rhyme: This little hand
This little hand is a goodl ittle hand
And this little hand is his brother
Together they wash and they wash and they wash
one hand washes the other.

Rhyme:Here Are the Babies
Here are the babies, babies, babies
Here are the babies
Snug in their bed.
How many are there?
Are there, are there?
How many are there?
One, two, three.

Wiggles 'n' Giggles - At our Rakow Branch
Three cheers for Grandma and Grandpa this week!  We read the books Grandma Loves Me! by Marianne Richard and The Grandpa Book by Todd Parr.  As an extension at home, make a photo book for your children of close family relatives.  When it's time for some quiet time, look at it together!

Rhyme: Hugs and Kisses Every Day
The grandma at the house goes hug, hug, hug
Hug, hug, hug,
Hug, hug, hug
The grandma a the house goes hug, hug, hug,
Every day.
(second verse: Grandpa - kiss)

Rhyme: Grandma's Glasses
These are Grandma's glasses.
This is Grandma's hat.
And this is the way she folds her hands,
And lays them in her lap.

Terrific Twos
This week's theme is about Rabbits!  We read the books Little Rabbit Couldn't Sleep by Wes Shoshan and Watch Animals Grow: Bunnies by Colleen Sexton.  Have fun with your little one by reading a family favorite, Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney.

Rhyme/Finger Play: 5 Little Bunnies
Five little bunnies standing by the door,
One hopped away, and then there were four.
Four little bunnies sitting near a tree,
One hopped away, then there were three.
Three little bunnies looking at you,
One hopped away and then there were two.
Two little bunnies enjoying the sun,
One hopped away, there there way one.
One little bunny, sitting all alone,
He hopped away, then there was none!

1, 2, 3, Go!
We're continuing our Barnyard theme with Cows this week!  We read the books Cows in the Kitchen by June Crebbin and Millie Wants to Play! by Janet Pederson.  Talk to you child about why they think cows are on the farm.  What do they give the farmer that is helpful to us?  :)

Fingerplay: Three Friendly cows
Three friendly cows went moo, moo, moo
One walked away and then there were two.
Two friendly cows standing in the sun,
One walked away and then there was one.
One friendly cow wanted to have some fun,
She went to find the others and then there was none!

Rhyme:
The cow is big,
The cow says moo,
The cow makes mild for me and you!

Story Mix
This week we are talking about Boo-Boo's.  We all get hurt sometime, this is a great opportunity to talk with your child about how we might feel when we get hurt.  Brainstorm together on what you can do after you get hurt; ie. Wash, dry, band-aid, etc.  The books we read this week include Boo Hoo Bird by Jeremy Tankard and Soo's Boo-Boo's, She's Got 10! by Tilda Balsley.

Rhyme: (Point to parts as you go)
Band-Aid on my elbow
Band-Aid on my shoulders
Band-Aid on my nose
Band-Aid on my knees
Band-Aid on my finger
Band-Aid on my tummy
Band-Aid on my toes
Band-Aid all over me!

Rhyme/Song: (Sing like "If You're Happy and You Know It")
If you're sad and you know it, cry out loud...
If you're mad and you know it, stamp your feet...
If you're scared and you know, shiver and shake...
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands...
