Fall 3 Weekly Programming

Baby Rhyme Time
We are counting in Baby Rhyme Time this week!  We read the books Spot's First Numbers by Eric Hill and Counting Kisses by Karen Katz.  To add to our theme at home, do simple counting with your baby...count toys, fingers, toes, anything!


Rhyme: Tick-Tock (#2)
Tick-tock, tick-tock, (Swing side to side)
I’m a little cuckoo clock.
Tick-tock, tick-tock,
Now I’m striking one o’clock.  (Up in air)
Cuckoo!  Cuckoo!
(Two, Three)

Rhyme: One to Five
One little nose,
Two little feet,
Three little tickles on your tummy so sweet!
Four little kisses on five little toes,
Then one more kiss for your sweet little nose


Wonderful Ones
We are having lots of fun in Wonderful Ones!  We read the books Ten Tiny Tickles by Karen Katz and Peekaboo Morning by Isadora.  To extend at home, play or sing your little one's favorite action rhyme together!


Rhyme: Up, down, Turn Around
Up, down, turn around,
Touch the sky and touch the ground.
Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, wiggle your shoulders,
Say “Hello!”

Rhyme:  Peek a Boo
Peek-a-boo, peek-a-boo

Terrific Twos
We're continuing our "I can..." series with "I Can Eat"!  This week we read the books I Like a Snack on a Iceberg by Ready Arno and How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? by Jan Yolen.  To continue the fun at home, make your little one's favorite snack together!

Action Song:
Let's make some pizza, (For me and you)
We're making pizza, (And Mom helps too!).
Roll out some dough (go go go)
Spread out the sauce (of course!)
And put on the cheese (yes please)
Then place on some ham (yeah man!).
Mom turn on the oven (watch it cook)
I think the pizza's ready (let's take a look).
We've made some pizza (Try a slice)
We've made some pizza (mmm it's nice!).

Eating pizza - so much fun

1, 2, 3, Go!
We are having more Farm fun this week!  We read the books Old MacDonald Drives A Tractor by Don Carter and Down on The Farm by Merrilly Kutner.  At home, talk about what jobs the Farmer has on the farm.  Come up with some ideas and then pretend together and act them out in play.

Flannelboard Rhyme: Five Little Farmers

The first little farmer goes to milk the cow.
(Close both fists, make milking motions up and down.)
The second little farmer gets ready to plow.
(Grasp a steering wheel and pretend to drive.)
The third little farmer feeds the hens and chicks.
(Pretend to scatter corn.)
The fourth little farmer has gates to fix.
(Make hammering motions.)
The fifth little farmer sells vegetables in town.
(Cup hands around mouth as if calling out.)
Five busy little farmers work 'til the sun goes down.
(Yawn, stretch, sleep)


Story Mix
We're continuing the Fall fun in Story Mix!  We read the books Busy Little Squirrel by Nancy Tafuri and Gingerbread Boy by Paul Galdone.  For more fun at home, retell the story with your preschooler and act out the Gingerbread Boy!  

Action Rhyme:
 This is the way we rake the leaves,    This is the way we jump in the leaves,
 Rake the leaves, rake the leaves.        Jump in the leaves, jump in the leaves
 This is the way we rake the leaves     This is the way we jump in the leaves

5 little gingerbread boys baking in a pan
